Recently when I was looking at cosplay photos, I stumbled upon of some really good ones from
Hakuoki. I always thought it was some anime, until curiosity got too much and I googled it. Surprisingly, I was wrong, it's not an anime, it's a freaking PS2 game OvO. And it's the type I hate the most too, novel games, I think that's why after so many months, I still haven't finish playing Sweet Pool... *sulks* (Why must it be just plain clicking T_T, I wanted to see bishies kicking ass with their katana! *sobs*).
Anyway, all I know about it is, it involves the words
Shinsengumi, cross-dressing female character (typical) AND KAZUKI YONE (the person who did the illustrations for the PS2 game
Hiiro no Kakera. Enough said, without knowing what's the story about, the Shinsengumi fan girl in me went ahead and ordered the book on Friday, got the book on Saturday, and I've never regretted it. At least not yet. *Mission: Get anything related to Shinsengumi!*
The art's really er... awesome!! :D It's a book filled with mouth watering bishies with only handful of girls and they're pretty too. We'll just pretend the main character, Chitsuru, has male organs k :D And from what I can see from the artbook, apparently Hijitaka and Co. can turn into demon mode, hence the oni in the title.
The book has about 111 page, excluding the covers and an insert thingy. The first 15 pages are filled with promotional illustrations for the game and extras by Kazuki Yone-sensei. Then, a nice big chunk goes to character information. The main characters have 6 pages each for themselves, and illustration of (all) 3 character designs are in there.
Not to forget, they even put screen shots from the game in there... So at least I know what's happening. It's like piecing the puzzles together, only I don't get the right story. Er, not so important characters (but I love Shinpachi thanks to cosplayer, Kaki TAT), has about 1 page or less to themselves... :D Oh, Chitsuru has 2 pages.
The third half however are the facial expressions for the character and some rough drawings, sketches, character orthography (SO TINY!!!) and etc. Finally the rest of them are just text like character information, seiyuu's voice, and blah blah blah...
Anyway, I manage to scan the illustration part of the artbook and the rest of them, well, either someone's going to scan the full thing, or we should all support the artist, and buy the artbook. :D It's not a must have kind of thing, unless you're a big fan of the work, but personally I find that for the price of the book, I wish there was more stuff in there to make it worth the RM120 (originally RM 153) I've spent.
So here's the link for the scans. I didn't debind the book, so there are gutters in the scans. I scanned them on 300dpi, resized to 150dpi on an average 1200px height. Feel free to use the scans as you wish, since the artwork doesn't belong to me. Oh, just don't reupload this file anywhere though. :D Enjoy!
